Skiing’s history

The first ever skis were created 8000 years BC by the Samis in Northern China. Their first ever appearance was represented by two-metre pieces of wood covered in horse hair, and the idea of them was to let people comfortably glide on snow. Later on, ski-poles were created by Otto Lang dating back to 3623 BC, that would help balancing and braking. In 1950 new skis were created; this time out of metal, and due to that more and more people started giving interest in skiing since it was then safer and more comfortable in use. Over the past years skis got a lot of development, being remade in different ways all over the countries, that caused the popularity of skiing to highly increase overtime. Nowadays, most of them are made out of fiberglass, carbon fibers or a type of epoxy, which allows us not only turn and brake roughly, but also compete in competitions such as ski-jumping. Skiing has become one of the most popular winter sports, and also a basing figure for some such as ski tours and sledging.
